| The Hybrid Convoy figure is set in the Gen 1 style but with much greater articulation. His chest housing divides and opens to reveal the Matrix. His hands are interchangeable among a series of surplus appendages. His articulation is on par with the larger-scaled Masterpiece Convoy. He comes equipped with his classic-style gun. Also included are an Autobot emblem base and a mount bracket to assist him in any number of display poses. Additionally, the fully functional trailer retains its classic dual capacity; the mechanical repair bay is well-articulated and comes equipped with loyal Autobot drone, Roller. All and all, this set is extraordinarily elaborate and expansive, one of the most impressive efforts on the Takara front. Still to this day, the Gen 1 Optimus Prime retains his undisputed heavyweight title as the greatest of the Autobots. Unlike later series, in which Prime seemed vaguely diminished in authority, the Gen 1 Prime was served unquestioningly by Autobots who remained in awe of him. On numerous occasions, Prime delivered epic, well-deserved thrashings to Megatron, both during the original episodes and during the cataclysmic fight at Autobot City in Transformers: The Movie---the latter of which culminated after Prime single-handedly staunched a full-scale Decepticon invasion. |

Ok, this is my personal favourite prime figure. It is not my first and only optimus prime toy but this set is definetely worth buying, sure its not that big but to be fair is not way too small either.. what i really like is that its very detailed and complete, you got the orange energon axe, the classic prime gun, the trailer & that small car inside, and also the huge autobots red metallic logo as a bonus. The trailer can transform into a defensive base with a weapon and when you open prime's chest you can found his spark place and the spark itself! like i said, its amazing just to see how detail the set is.
to put it in simple sentence, this is a detailed optimus prime toy that can transform into a trailer truck with a complete weapon and other accessories. |

I wasn't sure I wanted to pay so much money for such a tiny figure (think about as tall as the average Star Wars figure), but I had a gift certificate and I loves me some Optimus, so I figured what the hey.
First, the cons:
-The transformation is a little complicated and the truck mode doesn't look that great.
-The forearms are gigantic (he looks like he has some monster puffy sleeves or something) and the plastic pieces on the forearm pop off pretty easily (but they pop right back in, so it's more of an annoyance than anything).
Okay, aside from that, this toy is MAGNIFICENT. Sure it's tiny, but it's very detailed, insanely poseable, and has a decent amount of heft to it too, as there's a lot of diecast metal involved. Since the figure is so small, there are a lot of little pieces that could easily get lost, but every single piece has storage space within the trailer (the extra hands go into little "cabinets", the weapons can peg into the walls, the jetpack can be attached outside or stuck inside, the Matrix of Leadership can stay in Optimus, and of course Roller fits right in the trailer itself).
Optimus comes with a display stand so you can pose him jumping (or flying on the included jetpack), or he can just stand on it. The trailer opens, the ramp pops out for Roller, and the piece inside can be used as either a repair station or a gun platform. It's probably too expensive and has too many small pieces to give to a child, but if you're old enough to appreciate a gorgeous collector's item, you'll be blown away. Heck, I kinda want to get a display case for it, it's just so awesome.
I was blown away by the 20th Anniversary/Masterpiece Optimus, but this little guy might be even better... |
