Product Description

The MP-03 Masterpiece Starscream measures 13â? long in jet mode and 10â? high in robot mode. Though modeled somewhat after his Gen 1 incarnation, this version of Starscream is notably rangier and darker, defined by mechanical intricacies and a more of a gunmetal-flat finish. Sleek jet mode includes purple Decepticon insignias, an amber-glazed cockpit bubble and detachable missiles. The rectangular base accessory provides a rack for detached missiles as well as providing a post-mounted display for either jet or robot mode. In robot mode, Starscream is as well-articulated as the Masterpiece Prime. He features the familiar inverted wings, heel-stationed thrusters, and arm-mounted Null Ray cannons. Set between the red-interior shoulder pylons, his head retains a familiar shape as well, Starscream-stamped down top the details of his sardonic red eyes and malignant sneer. Starscream is fueled purely by avarice and ambition, a perfect one-track engine of treachery and betrayal. He serves under Megatron only in the interest of maintaining a staging ground to further his sedition. One of his primary weaknesses exists in his inability to conceal his dissension. He tries to seize power at each shallow opportunity, usually subverting his greater agenda in the process. In the Gen 1 cartoon, Starscreamâ?TMs avarice was usually portrayed comically, which made him one of the most memorable and enjoyable characters on the show. He did manage to wrest control of the Decepticons for a few scrabbling minutes here and there, and in Transformers: The Movie, he even advanced under the pretense of formal ceremony, crown of leadership included, at least until Galvatron vaporized him. Now revamped into a more grandiose Masterpiece version, he seems outwardly more formidable than most other versions.

user comment Transformers Takara Masterpiece Collection MP 3 Starscream Not as Bad as They'd Have You Think

Review Date: October 15, 2007

Other reviews have gone into more detail, but I just wanted to say that while this figure is mostly plastic, it's really not as unstable as some people make it out to be. Be warned, though: the transformation is complicated, and if you're not using the instructions be prepared to have a tough time. It's not MP-05 bad, but it's more complex than MP-01 or 04.

I'm a little disappointed with the colors, but these are much more realistic than the white and red scheme that the original Starscream had.

I do, however, love the fact that it came with a stand. It really helps when it comes to displaying this figure.

Oh, and note: this toy is NOT for children. It's a collector's item and should be treated as such. Even though it's more durable than some people make it out to be, you still should be careful with it - plastic is plastic, after all.

Starscream looks great; a sleek F-15C jet that transforms into a cool robot, amazing! I had to return this because I'm not going to risk breaking an expensive Transformer when I can't understand the directions. I emailed the manufacturer and asked them to send me English directions, but I didn't get a response. I REALLY wish the same item was sold in English. There were frame-by-frame drawings of what needed to happen, but still.
user comment Transformers Takara Masterpiece Collection MP 3 Starscream great design - cheap materials

The design of Starscream is wonderful and very impressive both in robot mode and in airplane, you can see that allot of thought was put into it. the design part easily gets 5 stars.

The materials they used are cheap and easily breakable and the color is not too impressive (nothing like the optimus prime masterpiece which is a very sturdy heavy piece with beautiful rich colors) this portion gets only 2 stars.

It is also overpriced and with the money they saved using the cheapest of materials i would think it should retail at $80-$100 max. Value gets only 3 stars.

In general if you are planning to place this piece on display and not play with it i would highly recommend it. kids under 13 should not touch this as they would break it immediately.

If only they used heavier stronger materials i would defiantly give it 5 stars and would also think it was worth the price - but since they used light plastic and charge too much for it, I give it a 4. (if i was not huge transformers fan I would probably give it a 3)

Though a bit expensive, I'd say its quite worth it. Very realistic craftsmanship and elaborate transformation process. Comes with a base, a miniature pilot and stickers to decorate the hull.
user comment Transformers Takara Masterpiece Collection MP 3 Starscream Amazing model, costs too much

This is just shy of getting 5 stars, but only because of the price I paid. Below $70 and this would be 5 stars. The attention to details is amazing. Just don't expect anyone under the age of 20 to transform it. The instructions are much more complicated than the previous Optimus Prime master piece product.

At first I wasn't happy with the change to Starscreams color scheme, but now I'm totally onboard. He looks awesome in both modes.
